Viewing Experience

Have you ever had the following experience? You find a great video online that you want to watch, but when you click on the link to watch it . . . you NEVER know quite what to expect.

The viewing experience online is extremely problematic. Problems for viewers range from not knowing which quality or media player to choose to never seeing what they selected to watch. Today’s experience is usually accompanied by constant buffering and re-buffering. Some formats and delivery methods don’t even let you view ANYTHING until the entire clip has downloaded. This has the double negative impact of being expensive to the video provider (possibly transmitting video content that is never watched by the recipient) and frustrating to the video consumer (who has to wait to receive the video content).

But that’s just the beginning of the problems. A second set of problems becomes evident AFTER viewing has started. Some formats require, again, that an entire file has been delivered before the viewer can fast-forward or rewind the video that is being watched. Others experiences allow viewers to change their location within a file or stream but then must refresh or re-buffer the video.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the experience of viewing and controlling a video online were more similar to our experience when watching and controlling a video using a DVD player? Only Move Networks, through its Move Play client, makes such a positive viewing experience possible.

Move Media Services, powered by Quantum Streaming, delivers high-quality video content directly to each video consumer at the highest-level quality available based on the speed and quality of the viewer’s connection to the Internet and the available encoded bit rates available. Each viewer’s experience is unique and dynamically managed to ensure an uninterrupted, high-quality experience. Video delivery automatically adjusts to compensate for Internet traffic anomalies as well and changes in the viewer’s Internet connectivity and available CPU.

Behind this highly-individualized consumer experience is a scalable backend that can provide custom video experiences to hundreds of thousands of concurrent video consumers.
